Assessing for diabetes-related complications

The risk of developing diabetes-related complications is strongly related to disease duration and glycaemic control. Careful screening for a range of potential micro- and macrovascular complications in people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes allows earlier detection, which can provide the opportunity to implement preventive measures that may halt progression.
